When Everything Goes Sideways
Recoveries involving fuel tankers always demand a higher level of preparation. You’ve got weight, volatile cargo, and usually, the clock working against you. On this night, we got the call that a fully loaded tanker had gone over in Canton. Fuel still inside. Storm on the way. Not the kind of job that allows for hesitation. We knew right away this one needed a full crew and brought out two of our biggest trucks, stacked with equipment and manpower. This wasn’t going to be quick, and it wasn’t going to be easy.

The Call That Brought Out Our Whole Team
The scene was already tense when we arrived. A tanker off its wheels, resting on its side. No visible leaks, but the potential was there. We were ready to tow if it came to that. But first, we had to stabilize and recover. That meant thinking through every step and doing it under worsening weather conditions.
Alongside our most experienced heavy-duty operator, we brought our brand-new employee and our owner to the field. Because recovering trailers under these conditions is a team effort from start to finish. Everything gets double-checked. Nothing gets rushed. When a trailer this size tips over, getting it back upright safely requires the right gear, the right setup, and a crew that knows how to think three moves ahead.
Thunder Overhead, Mosquitoes All Around
The weather didn’t help. Shortly into setup, the storm hit. Thunder cracked overhead, and lightning lit up the scene while rain came down in sheets. The ground went soft under our boots. We were soaked and swatting mosquitoes. It was one of those nights where everything felt like it was working against us.
The Right Moves at the Right Time
Before we could even think about uprighting that tanker, the fuel had to come out. A transfer crew helped lighten the load. Once it was empty enough to move safely, we rigged both wreckers in tandem.
There’s no room for rush jobs in Canton trailer recovery. The uprighting went smoothly: a textbook lift, thanks to the teamwork, tension control, and experienced hands on the winches. The trailer settled upright, tires intact, and structure unharmed.

Always Ready to Tow, Even When We Don’t Have To
We stayed on site well after the trailer was standing. The fuel company hadn’t ruled out needing a tow. We were ready. Even though the trailer didn’t need a ride back, we had every strap and light in place. If they’d called it, we could’ve rolled out in minutes. When we finally packed up, the rain had eased, the storm moved east, and the mosquitoes, well, they were still winning. But that’s part of this work.
